Chris Cross Coffee is a coffee shop that was donated to the Atlanta Dream Center Church in memory of Chris Calhoun, the son of a wonderful couple in our church. Chris passed away in 2010 and his parents wanted to do something in memory of their compassionate and loving son.
They named the shop after their son and later realized that Chris is derived from the word "Christ". You won't be surprised by the fact that "The only difference between Chris and Christ is the cross (the letter 't')"*.
To take it even further, to say "Chris Cross" is to say "Christ's Cross". and this is what the coffee shop wants to represent, the way to conquer death, Jesus on the Cross. In a way, they
wanted to have the memory of their son not be the name of a coffee shop, but a warm cup of coffee that points to the conquerer of death, Jesus Christ.
The purpose of Chris Cross Coffee is simple:
1. to serve the church
2. to provide an outreach to the community
3. to provide no-cost retail/coffeehouse internships and hopefully-soon jobs to those we reach through our ministries at the Dream Center.
Chris Cross Coffee proudly serves Safehouse Coffee. Safe house is a non-profit micro roaster located in Griffen, GA that originated as a rehab facility. They only use the highest quality coffee beans acquired through fair trade.
